18th July - 1st August 2009 - Carrickfergus International Ladies Football Festival

Newtownabbey Strikers return to the Carrickfergus Ladies Football Festival as current Championship Winners. This year they are looking forward to the chance to compete against newcomers of the competition aiming to repeat their performances and reclaim their tournament winners status.
This year Newtownabbey Strikers are affiliated with the Irish League club Crusaders F.C. They have worked tirelessly through the winter months to prepare themselves for another competitive season in the NIWFA Premier and Reserve Leagues. Having just missed out on the top spot in the Premier league in the past few years they are hoping their preparation will take them that last step to regain the title of top Premier League team in Northern Ireland and see them compete in their 4th Women’s UEFA Cup competition. With plenty of silverware to play for, this season promises to be another competitive battle.

Saturday 1st November 2008 - End of Season Presentation 2008
Newtownabbey Strikers W.F.C., one of the top women’s football teams in Northern Ireland, held their Annual End of Season Presentation on Saturday 1st November 2008 at The Corrs Corner Hotel in Newtownabbey. With players, staff, parents, supporters and football associates alike the evening was an enjoyable occasion.
Having competed in the Premier League and cup, Reserve League and cup, the Coca Cola Irish F.A. Cup and the Annual Carrickfergus Ladies International Football Festival 2008 was certainly a packed season.
This year Newtownabbey Strikers become the first local club to win the Championship competition at the Annual Carrickfergus Ladies International Football Festival which was held in July. They competed against Premier League rivals Newbridge Predators and Glentoran Belfast United to reach the Championship Final where they played the NI Under 19 Development Squad winning the match 2-0 to become the first team from Northern Ireland to win the Tournament in all its six years.
After a very closely fought competitive season Newtownabbey Strikers just missed out on the top spot in the Carnegie Premier League being beaten by main rivals Glentoran Belfast United. Strikers season was cut short after again losing out to Glentoran Belfast United in both the Premier League Divisional Cup and Coca-Cola Irish FA Cup semi-finals.
Strikers Reserves could not add any silverware after their league efforts fell short in the newly established Reserve League. They were semi-finalists in the Divisional Cup.
As for awards presented on the night the deserved winners were:
Manager's Player of the Season (1sts) - Debbie McCarthy
Managers' Player of the Season (Reserves) - Jessica Kidd
Player's Player of the Season (1sts) - Lynsey Patterson
Player's Player of the Season (Reserves) - Emily Reid
Top Goalscorer (1sts) - Clare Carson
Top Goalscorer (2nds) - Trudi Harbinson
Special Recognition Award - Elaine Roden, Danielle McDowell and Rebecca Corish - for their coaching work with the Strikers Junior Squads.
Special Recognition Award - Laura Johnston - for her work as website administrator etc.
The club would like to thank Manager Stephen Calvert and Coach Jim Hagan for all their drive, dedication and expertise, the family and friends who tirelessly supported the club throughout the season and special thanks to Club kit sponsors The Beautiful Game, NI Physiotherapy (Ross Harris), Junior Club kit sponsors and to their home ground venue at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown.
Pictures coming soon!

Strikers have had a successful history in this competition, starting off as semi-finalists in 2003, progressing to Plate Winners in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Monday 14th April 2008 - Friendly vs Northern Ireland Senior Women - Result 0-0
Newtownabbey Strikers played an entertaining game against the Senior Women at the Queens University pitches. Strikers were without regulars Julie Nelson, Sara Booth and Helen McKenna as they were playing for the International team but they gave the International squad a difficult game. A fantastic team performance for a very useful pre-season friendly.
